Colour Correction

The nature of fresh florals means that the preservation process will naturally change their appearance. For some flowers, it’s barely noticeable, while others have a more significant change. You might be perfectly happy with this, and see the beauty in the evolution of your flowers. However, if you’d prefer to keep it as life-like as possible, we recommend adding Colour Correction to your piece.

Colour correction helps to hide any blemishes, bruises or imperfections, restores colour and helps with longevity of your piece once it’s on display – like any artwork, UV can cause it to fade gently over the years.

We strongly recommend colour correcting for pressed flower frames and for bouquets using tropical flowers.

How does colour correction work?

The preservation process – whether drying or pressed – changes the moisture content of your flowers, and so the colour, shape and size can change, too. The natural pigments in flowers can be unpredictable, and colours can lighten or darken, depending on the type of flower. Red roses can often become quite deep in colour, while delicate pink flowers can take on a more yellowed look.

Colour correction is designed to enhance the natural beauty of your flowers, without looking artificial. We take photos of your original flowers and use natural dyes and pigments to restore any colour lost through the process.

Restoring bruised petals

The preservation process also has a tendency to reveal bruising and damage to your flowers. Your wedding bouquet has had a big day – a bit of damage is totally normal, and usually not noticeable when your flowers are fresh.

Colour correction helps conceal some of the damage, depending on the level of bruising, but we can’t remove it entirely. We’re mindful of the condition of each flower when we’re arranging them in your piece.

And while we’ll always do our best to disguise the damage, we also think it adds to the story of your piece. After all, we’re capturing a memory, not just a work of art.

White flowers

All-white bouquets are beautiful in their simplicity. Through the drying and preservation process, white flowers will turn cream, yellow or even take on a slight brownish hue, depending on the variety. Bruising and petal imperfections are also more noticeable on pale coloured flowers.

If your bouquet will be all white, we strongly suggest adding colour correction to freshen your white and cream flowers. From a design perspective, adding greenery to your frame or resin piece can also help to add dimension and depth to your final artwork.

Tropical flowers

Tropical blooms are one area where we’d strongly recommend colour correction. Their high moisture content, unique shapes, and overall fragility means these flowers can look much different when preserved. While they’re stunning fresh, they can turn brown when preserved without colour correction.

If your bouquet includes tropical flowers, we definitely recommend adding Colour Correction.

Fading is natural

How to maintain my flowers' vibrancy for longer?

Like everything natural in the world, even preserved flowers can fade gently over time. Colour correction ensures the longevity of your flowers by helping to maintain their vibrancy and appearance for longer.

Keeping your preserved flower frame or resin piece out of direct sunlight will also reduce UV exposure and keep your flowers looking beautiful for years to come.
